Job Summary: The Front Office Student Assistant performs general office duties for E-Tech. Receives, screens, and routes telephone calls. Sends and receives emails. Maintains spreadsheets. Loans and receives loaner items from faculty and staff. Provides minor vehicle checks (gas level and cleanliness). Files. Performs light cleaning of the College of Arts & Sciences’ (A&S) fleet vehicles. Assists with the day operations of the A&S computer labs. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor. 


Additional Department Summary: If applicant does not have A&S Computer Lab experience, they will need to have a minimum amount of hours scheduled in the computer labs during their time employed, this is to be determined by the supervisor.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student with a minimum of 2.50 semester and overall GPA. Office/customer service experience. Experience answering and routing telephone calls, filing, and greeting the public. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel. Willingness to learn new interoffice software programs. Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy. Ability to work independently with minor supervision. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to work an assigned schedule of up to 20 hours per week during Spring and Fall semesters.


Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Apple products.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
