Job Summary: The UREC Photographer/Videographer Assistant takes photographs and videos as assigned for the UREC’s website, social media, and other publications. Produces an acceptable quantity and variety of photographs of assigned subject(s). Completes assignments by the deadline. Uploads photos to a shared server/file location to which marketing staff has access. Meets regularly with marketing staff to review upcoming events, required photos, assignments, and communications strategies where photos will be used. Assists marketing staff with social media plans. Additional duties as assigned.


Additional Department Summary: University Recreation employs over 350 students each semester in customer service, programming, and operational support positions across all UREC facilities, including the Student Recreation Center, Witt Student Activity Center, Outdoor Pool Complex, and Aquatic Center. We're looking for personable and responsible individuals to engage patrons of all ages in a variety of recreational activities and services. UREC positions require an excellent attitude and willingness to learn, ability to obtain required certifications, and availability to work a flexible schedule based on our operational hours. Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student. Ability to work at least 10 hours per week. Photography experience for marketing and/or publication.


Skills and Knowledge: Interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Self-motivated. Ability to work cooperatively as a part of the marketing team. Responsible.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
