Job Summary: The Ministry Assistant/Nursery Supervisor is a part-time position at First Presbyterian Church that assists in 3 areas:

  • Administrative assistance for the Associate Pastor for Faith Formation
  • Administrative assistance for the Associate Pastor for Congregational Life and Mission
  • Supervision and leadership over the operations of the church nursery

As the Ministry Assistant, the employee will provide administrative assistance to the associate pastors. Meets weekly with the Associate Pastors to receive instruction and guidance on the tasks that are needed to be accomplished. Creates and manages social media posts/content. Creates content for paper invitations, posters, communications, etc. Maintains and updates ministry forms, documents, reservations, and registrations. Communicates with church members, staff, and outside vendors. Additional duties as assigned.

As the Nursery Supervisor, the employee will oversee the operations of the nursery, ensuring it is appropriately staffed for all church activities, including Sunday worship, Wednesday programs, holidays, and special events. Supervises childcare staff. Hires, conducts training and background checks, and maintains a safe and healthy childcare environment that complies with the Church’s Child Protection Policy. Remains on-site or on-call during childcare hours. Communicates nursery supply needs and staffing updates to the Associate Pastor for Faith Formation.


Additional Department Summary: This salaried position is based on approximately 15 hours/week (ebbs and flows seasonally). This employee is expected to be present in the church nursery between 3 and 4 Sundays per month.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Childcare experience. Ability to serve in the church nursery a minimum of 3 Sundays per month.


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer/digital proficiency including social media skills and basic graphic design. Ability to meet deadlines with a significant amount of autonomy. Excellent organizational skills. Experience in offering caring and compassionate infant/child care.
