Job Summary: The Photography Associate delivers a wide range of photos from multiple University Recreation events and programs. Produces an acceptable quantity and variety of photographs of assigned subject(s). Photographs University Recreation facilities, programs, events, and participants.


Additional Department Summary: Produces a variety of photography styles, including action shots, posed portraits, candid moments, and facility images. Edits and organizes photos for use across web, social media, print, and digital signage. Collaborates with the marketing team to plan and execute creative photo concepts. Ensures photos align with UREC’s branding guidelines and reflect the student experience. Manages, organizes, and archives photo libraries for future use. Assists with occasional video recording or visual media projects as needed.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student. Experience in photography. Proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, lighting, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop). Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to cover events.


Skills and Knowledge: Strong eye for composition, storytelling, and detail. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
